Robert (Bob) Edward Mahan age 87, of Kennewick Washington, passed away on Monday November 25, 2024, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on September 12, 1937, in Pasco, WA, to Hazel and K.C. Mahan as the eldest of four brothers, including Ron (and wife Judy) who survive him.

Bob grew up a precocious child, graduating from Pasco High School in 1955. He served honorably in the U.S. Airforce as a radar technician for 4 years, then completed multiple degrees in electrical engineering from CBC and WSU. Bob had an illustrious and international career working for General Electric on the Apollo Project and then Battelle in their robotics, computer science, and cyber-security teams. He also taught at WSU Tri-Cities as an adjunct professor for 30 years.

Robert was married to Maggie in 1961, and they spent the following 63 years seizing life with their 3 children (and spouses) Mark (Shelley), Mike (Jodi), and Cindy (Greg), as well as 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Bob's generosity and kindness extended far beyond his family to everyone he met – friends, church, school groups, and the entire community. In his free time Bob could be found tinkering on cars, gardening, researching family history, or practicing his faith as a Sunday school teacher and lay minister.

The family asks instead of flowers, please find someone in true need and kindly lift them up as Bob always did. Viewing is scheduled Sunday, December 8th, 2024 from 1pm-4pm. A service to honor and celebrate Bob's life will be held on December 9th, 2024 at 1:00pm at Mueller's Funeral Home 1401 S. Union St. Kennewick WA
