In loving memory of Robert Bob Lewis, 93, of Kennewick, WA who passed away on February 16, 2009. Bob was born on July 14, 1915 in Evansville, Arkansas. After serving bravely in WW II, he moved to Richland in 1948 and lived there until his passing. As a part of America's Greatest Generation, he served in the Navy as a radioman communicator aboard a number of ships in the Pacific, and survived the sinking of two, the USS HELENA and the USS HOUSTON, both sunk by the Japanese. In 1951 Bob married Martha and started their family. Bob worked as a nuclear operator on the Hanford Nuclear Project for General Electric, Atlantic Richfield and others for over forty years. Bob and Martha visited and loved their family and friends both near and far. They traveled extensively and visited Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Fiji, Palau, Mexico, Hawaii and other wonderful places in America. They loved playing bridge, golfing together and the arts. But most of all they loved spending holiday time with their family. Bob is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Debra and George Brewer, Grandson Grant Brewer and several nieces and nephews. The family sends special thanks to the loving friends and caregivers who gave compassion, love, and understanding to his care since the departure of the love of his life, Martha. Praise to all for the love and loyalty you have given Bob and the family during these last years. May Bob's spirit, gracious smile, and kindness be an inspiration for all those who have known him and may the spirit of our Lord be with Bob in eternity. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Martha, brother Gus Lewis, and sister Oleta Cowan. Bob's viewing will be at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home on February 28, 2009 from 10:00 AM to Noon. Graveside services, immediately following, will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, 2108 West Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336 and/or the International Essential Tremor Foundation, P.O.
