In Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” Farnkoff
(March 6, 1932 to September 4, 2026)
Robert “Bob” Farnkoff, retired Chief of Police in Kennewick, WA, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness and love touched the lives of many.
Bob was born on March 6, 1932 in Everett, Massachusetts to Josephine Mary Farnkoff and George H. Farnkoff and was one of 12 children. In 1952, Bob came to Kennewick, where he opened a television business with his brother-in-law, prior to which he served with the Army Intelligence during the Korean War.
In 1957, Bob joined the Kennewick Police Department. Over the years, he worked his way through the ranks and proudly served as Chief of Police for 16 years. He was a lifetime member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and took great pride in his years of service to his community.
Outside of his career, Bob enjoyed living life to the fullest. He loved traveling to New York to attend Broadway shows and spending summers at Cannon Beach. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling, running in the Boston Marathon, and participating in many outdoor activities.
Bob had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed many different styles. One of his particular favorites was the music of Dutch violinist André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Above all, Bob was a thoughtful, kind, and loving person. He had a special ability to see the good in everyone and brought warmth and goodness wherever he went.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Celia of 40 years; two children; four stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild. (Son: David Farnkoff, daughter: Linda Farnkoff, Step-children: Pam McClees (Jorge McClees), Chuck Raeder (Erica Raeder), Bryan Raeder, and Stephanie Laabs (Floyd Laabs) and his sister, Carol Farnkoff and brother, Tom Farnkoff.) He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Bob’s legacy of love, service, kindness, and seeing the good in everyone will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
He was our rock, our protector, and the heart of our family. He was a truly wonderful human being whose strength, kindness, and love touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was someone who made us feel safe, loved, and cared for. His loss leaves an emptiness that words cannot describe, but his love and the memories we shared will remain in our hearts forever.
The Mass and Celebration Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11 am on Friday October 16, 2026 located at: 506 S. Garfield St., Kennewick, WA 99336.
