Robert Brinson passed into Glory on March 16, 2025, at his home in Kennewick, Washington. He was born in Pasco, WA on September 16, 1937, after a long, bumpy ride on dark country roads from the old town of Hanford, WA. At the age of four his family moved from Hanford to Tacoma, and returned to Prosser in 1947, since the town of Hanford was taken over by the U.S. government. He moved to east Kennewick in 1948, and lived there the rest of his life.

Bob spent his childhood enjoying his freedom exploring nearby wilderness areas and fields, chasing lizards and catching fish, hitchhiking to a Rainier's ball game at the age of 9 when he lived in Tacoma, jumping on a slow freight across the river to explore Pasco, and wandering the nearby sage brush covered hills to terrorize rabbits and ground squirrels with his rifle. He discovered his love for camping and fly fishing on family trips with his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His beloved Tucannon was his favorite place to camp, and it was where he taught his own daughters how to fly fish as well as any boy ever could.

He graduated from Kennewick High School in 1955, and soon joined the United States Air Force where he served at bases in Biloxi, Lake Charles, and Columbus. Soon after his discharge, he began taking classes at Columbia Basin College. Upon his graduation he began working out at the Hanford site for Westinghouse and Batelle from 1962 until his retirement in 2000. CBC was where he met Judith Gradwohl. They married in 1962 and raised two daughters, Kathy and Becky. During their final years together, Bob served as a faithful and loving caregiver for Judy. She passed away shortly after their 47th wedding anniversary.

A while after Judy's passing, Bob started to fancy a fellow member of the church choir, and soon fell in love with Doris O'Neil. They were married in 2011, and she and her family enriched Bob's life and brought him tremendous joy. He cherished the many trips they took together before his illness and age required him to slow down. Doris provided tender, firm, and loving care to Bob, and his family credits her with the fact that we were able to have Bob in our lives for as long as we did.

Bob's faith was secure in Jesus Christ. He attended the Kennewick First Christian Church from 1948 until 2013, where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon and elder for 25 years. He then began attending South Hills Church in Kennewick. Because of his faith and his own parents' strong examples, Bob believed strongly in volunteering and serving other people. He was involved in Stephen Ministries and spent over a decade volunteering with the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy. A favorite quote of his was from Albert Schweitzer: "One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."

Bob is survived by his wife Doris Brinson; his sister Janice Van Eaton; his daughter Becky (Steve) Marty; bonus daughters Teresa (Joe) Coscarart and Melina (Dave) Hall; and his grandchildren Jesse Brinson-Wagner, Samuel Marty, Daniel Marty, Michael Marty, Anna Marty, Tessie Coscarart, Zachariah Coscarart, Caleb Coscarart, Elijah Hall, Bethany Hall, and Isabella Hall. Bob deeply loved and cared for many pets throughout his life, and also leaves behind his cat Nugget, and dog Mazie. He was predeceased by his parents Robert Sr. and Verna, his wife Judy Brinson, and daughter Kathy Brinson.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 am this Saturday, March 22 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union St. in Kennewick. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm that same day at South Hills Church, 3700 W. 27th Ave. in Kennewick. Donations can be made in his memory to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy, the Union Gospel Mission, or Rehema for Kids.

In his final years, Bob said, "God has blessed me far beyond anything I could have ever imagined." But we were the ones who were truly blessed to have him in our lives.
