Robert (Bob) Eugene Tyrrell passed away November 21st, 2024, in Richland, Washington following a brief illness. He was born on June 3, 1935, in Pasco, the first born, to Bertie, and Julia Tyrrell and lived his early years on the family farm in Horse Heaven Hills.
Bob attended Kennewick High School, graduating in 1953 and worked the family farm with his father until he joined the United States Marine Corp in1956. He served as an aircraft mechanic, both stateside and in Japan. He married Joyce Hodgson, in May 1957 and completed his military service in 1959. After leaving the Marine Corps, he followed in his father's footsteps and farmed the family acreage in the Horse Heaven Hills. He was proud to have farmed the land originally homesteaded by his pioneer grandparents. He continued dry land wheat farming there until 1975.
After sale of the farm, Bob went on to work for Horse Heaven Fertilizer and then Bill Pearson Ranch.
Bob and his wife went on to run a food service business. For many years they operated B&J Concessions at the Benton-Franklin County Fairgrounds. Bob and Joyce also raised and showed Welsh Ponies.
They enjoyed square dancing, playing cards and enjoying the company of family and many lifelong friends.
In their spare time he enjoyed traveling in their RV, often working as campground hosts on their adventures.
He is survived by two of his 4 siblings, Ruth Tyrrell Hickman and Charles Tyrrell, 2 children, Rebecca Boyce and Rick Tyrrell (Wife Kim), 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
