Rita Kay
George
Nov 8, 1944 — Jun 18, 2024
Rita Kay George (Knutson), 79, passed away in Kennewick, WA on June 18th, 2024. She was preceded in death by husband Richard George and beloved son Kevin George and is survived by son Scott George (Kelly), daughter Debbie Gillitt (Nick) and grandchildren Lauren Halterman (Ryan), Ray George & Kolten Udager.
Rita was born in Sunnyside, WA to Nellie and Earl Knutson and grew up in Pasco graduating from Pasco High School in 1963. She married Richard George in 1964 and welcomed three beautiful children while living in Kennewick where she spent the rest of her life. In her children's younger years she was a dedicated "sports" mom always there to cheer them on. After raising her three children she opened "Canyon Clippers" at Brookdale Retirement Living where she was the owner operator for 20 years and was dearly loved by all the residents. She took great joy in her job and loved all the friends she made there. She spent the last 10 years of her life as a resident at Brookdale where she was known for her colorful holiday decorations, the singing plush toys, bottomless candy bowl and always a warm welcoming smile.
She found beauty and peace in the garden with her beautiful roses, at them dinner table with delicious home cooked meals for the kids and time with the grandchildren as they grew into adulthood.
Our family would like to thank Fleur De Lis for their dedicated care, she passed away peacefully and will be remembered fondly forever. A memorial service will be conducted at Mueller's Funeral Home on Mon July 22nd 11am.
