Rita Jean Beasley-Edwards, of Pasco, WA, passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2023, surrounded by the love of her life, her husband Harold Edwards.

Rita and Harold began their beautiful journey after meeting in October of 2005 and later exchanging vows in January of 2017. They built their home in Sandy Springs, GA, just outside Atlanta, GA, where Rita wholeheartedly embraced Harold's children and grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories with them over the years. Trips to visit his children and their families, including their grandchildren, were filled with laughter and love. The FaceTime calls, phone conversations and heartwarming visits brought immense joy to Rita's life.

Born on March 7th, 1953, in Pasco, WA, Rita was one of 11 children born to Annie and Earnace Sr Beasley. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family bonds, survived by her adoring husband, Harold Edwards, daughter Shalice Edwards, son Lacaste Edwards, and her cherished grandchildren. Rita's early employment, while still in school, included roles as a switchboard operator and a part-time sales associate at a boutique. After graduating from Pasco High School in 1971, she pursued a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Fashion Merchandising from Washington State University, proudly wearing the title of a true "Coug."

Fashion was more than a career to Rita; it was her passion. She excelled as a Fashion Buyer, spearheading businesses for major department stores such as Fredrick & Nelson, The Bon, and Macy's. Rita's influence in the industry was recognized with a feature in Black Enterprise Magazine in 1988. Her sharp eye for style and her drive to be the best made her a trailblazer in her field. Rita was a force of energy and magnetism, driven by intellect and an insatiable curiosity. She approached life with unmatched passion, finding joy in hard work and meticulous planning. Her charisma, sophistication, and inner beauty endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In all aspects of her life, Rita was "all in." A proponent of a healthy lifestyle, she played tennis, jogged, and walked miles, even while traveling. Tennis became a sport she avidly followed, cheering for her favorites, including her longtime admiration for Serena Williams. In retirement, she combined her love for travel and jazz music, working part-time for a Jazz Festival Company. Rita's spiritual journey evolved and completed a profound circle when she was recently baptized in her home with fresh water from the river Jordan. Her deep impact on people's lives was affirmed by the pastor, who acknowledged the love and kindness she radiated, leaving an indelible mark on all she encountered.

Her beloved early canine companion, Mister, is now enjoying a long walk with her in heaven.

She is survived by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Esther Peters, Shirley Stutheit (Rick), Myrna Stafford (Harold), and Quenna Beasley. Earnace Beasley Jr, Vincent Beasley (Evoria), and Aaron Beasley (Diane).

She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Two of whom she was known as Auntie Mom to Logwone and Alonna Mitz direct nephew and niece.

Preceded in death by her parents Annie and Earnace Sr Beasley along with 3 brothers Joe Peters, Curtis Beasley, and Clarence Beasley. One niece Kenisha Woods (Boo).

Rita's presence in our lives was a beacon of warmth, love, and kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May her soul rest in peace, and her legacy live on in our hearts.
