Richard Lee Vaughan 79, passed away July 9 at his daughter's home in Richland. He was born September 23, 1926, in Ontario, Oregon. He lived in the Tri-Cities in the mid 1940s to mid 1960s working as a heavy equipment operator. His working career took him to jobs in Washington, Oregon, Montana, California and Alaska building roads, dams, and the Alaska pipeline. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Dale Anderson, Richland, and Judy and Gary Hatchett, Kennewick; 3 grandchildren, Angie, Ashley, and Ray; 2 great-grandchildren, Mertece and Mya; and brother Kenneth Vaughan and his wife Wanda, Eureka, CA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rawleigh and Myrtle, brother Arnold Bud, sister, Donna Ciha Polston and a nephew, Jim Ciha. In retirement he was very active in his 'rock-hound' hobby traveling far and wide in search of yet another rock. With his 'rock-hound' buddies, he spent winters in Quartzsite, AZ, where he was proclaimed by his friends to be a 'master rock-hound.' He served as a trail leader and a teacher in cutting, polishing and carving. His family and friends will miss him. We will remember him with love and with wonderful memories. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S Union, Kennewick WA.
