Randall Jack Herrin of Kennewick passed away at his home Friday December 31, 2010. Randy was born on May 7, 1954 in Pasco, WA to Jack and Barbara Herrin. He lived in Kennewick his entire life and was a proud graduate of Kamiakin High School's first graduating class in 1972. Following his dad and other uncles and cousins, Randy joined the Local 598 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union to have a career as a welder. When work was scarce in the early 80s, he traveled the country to support his family and was fortunate to catch on with General Electric. He worked the better part of 10 years travelling around the country and the world working on projects for GE. Wanting to spend more time at home with his family, Randy was grateful to find local employment with Apollo Sheet Metal. He loved Apollo and the people he worked with and embraced his role as a plumber, pipefitter, welder, and whatever else they needed him to be for almost 20 years. More than anything, Randall loved his family. While often neglecting his own health and well-being, he would stop at nothing to ensure family and friends were well. Most of all, he strived to make life as good as possible for his daughter, son, grandchildren, and ex-wife. Randy enjoyed life immensely. Hunting, fishing, and cooking were his passions. For most of his life, the year was marked by bass fishing in the spring and summer, followed by chukar, deer, and elk hunting in the fall. He was great with a fishing rod or a shotgun in his hands, and he was never shy about letting us all know when he had gotten the best of us that day. He got the best of us most days. He would say his success chukar hunting was largely due to his German short-haired pointer pups, which he adored in his own unique way. He also developed a love for Gonzaga basketball over the years and would always sport his Zags gear on game days. Randall is survived by his daughter Melissa Herrin; son and daughter in law Josh and Michelle Herrin; grandchildren Aubrey and Jack Herrin; ex-wife and friend Debbie Herrin; close friends Gary and Susan Dickson, Pat Andreata, Merl and Linda Goddard, Marshall Goddard, Evan Anderson, and Josh Murphy; sister Sandra Heinberg; and many other family, friends, and coworkers. Randall was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Barbara Herrin. Randy was an incredible father, grandfather, and friend. He will always be remembered, loved, and missed. Randy was a very private person and we will honor his request that there be no service. In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for your own family.
