Obituary

Ralph S. Mick Phillips was born May 12, 1923 in Oshkosh Nebraska, to Floyd and Francis Phillips. We are very proud of our father and grandfather's accomplishments. After moving from the Midwest, having been the foreman of a large cattle ranch in Lakeside NE, he joined the Kennewick Police Force. After a decade in law enforcement, he joined Columbia Center as their Security and Operations Manager, and later served for many years as the Columbia Center General Manager. During this time he also served as City Councilman and later the Mayor for the City of Kennewick. As a young man his service to this country during WWII was a significant accomplishment. He joined the US Navy at 18 and was at Pearl Harbor during its attack. He served as a chief petty officer on the USS Regil and Cassin Bay in the Pacific, and on the Lake Champlain in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. He is preceded in death by wives Betty Phillips, Doris Phillips, and brother Hal Phillips. Survivors include his wife Isla Phillips, Sons, Steven Jake Phillips and Mark Phillips, daughter Marylyn Phillips. Grandchildren include: Matthew Morris, Don Morris, April Phillips, Mason Phillips, Morgan Haas and Lauren Phillips, and great grandchildren. His full life has been shared closely with his family, extended family, many friends. Graveside service are to be held at Desert Lawn - 10th & Union - Kennewick - February 5th, 2009 at 2 pm. At family request, please, no contributions.
