Preston H. Jacobson, 86, passed away on November 23, 2008. He was born November 4, 1922 to Henry & Edna Jacobson in Bonilla, South Dakota. Dad served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps. Flying 25 high altitude bombardment missions over enemy and enemy occupied territory in the air war against Nazi Germany as a tail gunner on a B17 aircraft. He was awarded the Air Medal with 3 oak clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Stars, and many citations and awards of merit. He also received the Purple Heart for wounds he received in action during a raid over Emden, Germany. Dad retired from the Milwaukee Railroad after 46 years; the last 4 years as General Chairmen of the B.M.W.E. Dad grew up in Waltham, Montana and lived in many locations in the Northwest; settling the last 16 years in Kennewick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; parents, Henry and Edna; and brothers, Howard, Delbert and Dean. He is survived by his children, Jim Jacobson, Debra Blakley, Tim Nielsen and Linda Tonche, with many grandchildren and great grandchildren that he adored. The family would like to thank Hospice for all their support, with a special thanks to Brandon Jacobs and Michael Blakley. Graveside services will be November 29, 2008 at 3 pm located at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, on 10th and Union in Kennewick. Donations can be made to Hospice or any Veterans Associations in Dad's name.
