Patrick Henry Edvalson, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 22, 2025, at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA. He was born on December 19, 1942, in La Grande, Oregon, to Arnold and Dorothea Edvalson and grew up on the family farm along Catherine Creek in Union, Oregon.

After graduating from high school in Union Oregon, Patrick attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and Eastern Oregon State College. During this time, he served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest British Mission, a period of his life he cherished for the friendships he formed and the stories he loved to share. Upon returning, he married Bonnie Reuter; they had four children: Ian, Erik, Leslie and Adam, followed by a divorce.

In January 1976, Patrick met the love of his life, Vivian Lee Davis, and the two were married on November 19, 1976. They built a beautiful life together, raising a family adding three additional children, Seth, Lee Ann and Kate. Patrick worked in construction and later dedicated nearly 25 years to the railroad. Always finding hobbies and projects he enjoyed embroidery and woodworking, remaining active and industrious until the very end.

Patrick had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying camping, boating, and fishing, often with his family in tow. Family vacations were always adventures under the stars with tents and sleeping bags. A devoted mentor in the Scouting program and an Eagle Scout himself, he shared his passion for outdoor adventures with many, including the youth of the Clarkston, WA ward during his time as bishop.

Above all, Patrick prioritized his family. They worked, played, and worshiped together. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and was an enthusiastic supporter of BYU athletics, always optimistic about the next season. A gifted carpenter, Patrick built the family home in Clarkston, WA, and completely remodeled their home in Pomeroy, WA. He was the go-to helper for any home project his children tackled and took on construction side jobs throughout his life.

Patrick's faith in Jesus Christ and the gospel was at the core of everything he did. He lived a life of service and set an example of sharing his beliefs with others. He instilled in his family the importance of prayer, service, and faith. His unwavering testimony of the plan of salvation gave him hope and joy as he looked forward to reuniting with his wife, children, and grandchildren one day.

Patrick was preceded in death by his son, Adam Edvalson. He is survived by his beloved wife Vivian and children: Ian (Grace) Edvalson, Erik (Julie) Edvalson, Leslie (Justin) Nye, Seth (Jenni) Edvalson, Lee Ann (Randy) Norris, and Kate Edvalson, and 12 grandchildren: Darian Edvalson, Remi Edvalson, Collin Edvalson, Henry Edvalson, Nathan Edvalson, Helen Edvalson, Alex Nye, McKaylee Nye, Kara Lee Stanfield (Sam), Aubrey Bates (Robbie), Dallin Norris, and Ainslee Norris.

Patrick's legacy of faith, hard work, and love will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
