Patricia Ruth ("Ruthie") Hooker Turner, 89, was called home peacefully on December 19, 2023.

Pat was born in Cody, Wyoming, to Claude and Arizona (Zona) Hooker on May 15, 1934, and was the youngest of three children.  She and her sister Yvonne ("Vonnie") Bottorff (Minor) and brother Claude ("C.D.") Hooker ("Bunnie") were close and regularly shared wonderful, and often hilarious, stories of their childhood.  Pat and Bunnie became close friends through church, and a few years later Bunnie married Pat's brother, C.D.

In 1939, Pat moved to Lusk, Wyoming, to live with her Aunt Jane for the summer.  In the Fall of that year, the family moved to Middlesboro, Kentucky, then to the Tri-Cities, Washington, in 1947 where Pat graduated from Kennewick High School in 1952.  Having been involved in high school sports when she was in school, she remained an active KHS alumni supporting theater and sports.  She loved Gonzaga, golf, and watching Seahawks games with her brother-in-law Minor while he was on the phone from Moses Lake.

After high school graduation in 1952, Pat moved to Boise, Idaho, and worked at an insurance agency.  Upon returning to Kennewick in 1954 she obtained a position at Hanford as a mail clerk where she met her future husband, Fred ("Freddy").  They were married in 1956 in a house built by Frank Allaway, Bunnie's father.  Pat and Freddy lived in that home for many years before building a home across the street where they lived when Freddy passed away in 1985.

Pat worked at Hanford for 69 years and over the course of 19 years of attending college classes however she could, fulfilled degree requirements for a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.  She graduated in the first WSU Tri-Cities graduating class.

As the years progressed, Pat advanced her position with the Department of Energy and for a time was sent to oversee the Yucca Mountain project in Nevada.  From March 2000 to October 2010 she served as Vice President and Project Manager of the Innovations Group then went on to become Program Manager of YAHSGS as support contractor to the DOE Richland Operations Office and Office of River Protection.  From October 2013 until retirement last April she was Program Manager for the Salmon Group.  She was also given the honor of being selected as Tri-Cities Woman of the Year in 1978.

Known for her passion for volunteering, Pat served as Past President of the NARFE Tri-Cities Chapter 1192 and was active with Soroptimist, Toastmistress, and was a founding member of the Columbia Basin Badger Club.  She served on the Columbia Basin College advisory board and in an advisory role to the Kennewick School District's business department, volunteered at the Sacajawea Museum, with mental health programs, and was very actively involved with the Church of God of Prophecy as Treasurer, piano player, and teacher.  She held offices within the church structure at the state and local levels and was actively involved with church camps.

Pat enjoyed her vacation home in Yuma, Arizona, for many years, living next door to brother and sister-in-law, C.D. and Bunnie. She met Joe Nicasio through the church when he was nineteen, and he became a long-time travel companion and dear friend.  Joe is beloved by our family, and he would often join them in Yuma.

Pat is survived by her sister, Yvonne Bottorff; sister-in-law, Verna "Bunnie" Hooker; nephews David Bottorff (Jan) and Michael Hooker (Debbie); nieces Shelley Hooker Gibbs (Justin), Terri Bottorff Constance (Curt, deceased), Peggy Hooker Albertson (Del, deceased), Jodie Bortz (Dave), and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by husband Fred, brother C.D., her parents, brother-in-law Minor Bottorff, nephews by marriage Curt Constance and Del Albertson, and niece Carol Bottorff Black (Gene).

The family wishes to thank all of the individuals who assisted with her care over the past eight months.  We are very  grateful.

A celebration of life will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at The Living Room Church, 1409 S. We will forever be reflecting on the life of this remarkable woman.  Let us all remember her as she lived - a dedicated servant of the Lord with a generous spirit, a loving, doting aunt, and a supportive and loyal friend.  Her prayers to "go home to be with Jesus" have been answered, and we know she is now rejoicing with friends and loved ones who were waiting.
