Patricia Mae Koenig Merkel, of Kennewick, Washington, passed away on October 16, 2015 in Richland, Washington at the age of 80. Pat was a loving mom, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend by all who knew her. She was born on June 18, 1935 in Spokane, Washington. Pat graduated from Eastern Washington University in June of 1989 with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree. Pat worked as a business manager in the Edwall/Reardan and Dayton School District. Pat has been a long time member of the Tri City Quilters Guild, Kiwanis Club of Tri-Cities and NAEOP. Pat volunteered for many organizations, but her most rewarding was as a volunteer at the Juvenile Justice Center library. Pat was an avid quilter. She made many beautiful quilts which she has displayed in quilt shows for years. Pat also loved to make teddy bears and doll clothes. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and two sisters. She leaves behind her children, Kathi Fisk (Ken, deceased), Karol Melde (Leo), and John Merkel (Leanne). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2 pm at Mueller's Tri- Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick, Washington. A graveside service will follow.
