Obituary

Orson “Woody” Witherrite

Orson passed on October 16, freed from the constraints of a years long stroke disability.

Woody was born in Wallowa County, Imnaha, Oregon; the 9th child of the family and all but one brother had already left the family home.

He spent his first 9 years growing up in the immense freedom of the family ranch along the Imnaha River, 35 miles below Joseph, Ore. After the unexpected passing of his father, he and his mom came to Pasco, WA. to be near his sister Dorene and her husband Earl Wattenburger.

After graduation he enlisted in the Navy, serving in Yokosuka, Japan as radio/telegraph operator. He was Naval Reserve 2 years after returning to Pasco.

His first love was custom body and paint for cars and motorcycles. There are numerous examples of his work still in the Tri Cities. Woody was a talented artist.

He went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad out of the Pasco switch yard. He spent 30 plus years with the railroad until he was sidelined with a catastrophic stroke. Woody worked so very hard to recover and was so successful he gained another 20+ years with family and friends.

Woody is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamella Keeley; son Damon (Stephanie); 7 wonderful grandchildren and 5 amazing great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded to Heaven by his mom and dad; older son Dustin; all 8 of his brothers and sisters; and the boys’ mother Lorna.
