Opal "Sarge" Kuh was born on March 8, 1927 in Milford, Nebraska and she passed away on November 3, 2013. Opal attended school in Sargent, Nebraska, hence the nickname "Sarge". In 1942 she moved to Finley and lived with her aunt and uncle Ruby and Russell Blair while attending Hoover High, where she met her future husband, Kenny Kuh. The two were married on October 30, 1945 in Finley, Washington. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Opal was a true "people person" and knew no strangers and was an animal lover through and through. Opal's working career began with JCPenney's in downtown Kennewick. The next 26 years were spent at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital working in the admitting office. Opal completed her long working career working in the front office of Dr. Rick Shallman. After retiring from the medical field, Opal volunteered for the Benton County Historical Museum. Opal is survived by her husband Kenny of Finley, daughter and son-in-law John and Karen Baker of Stockton, California; granddaughter Janeé Baker and great-granddaughter Katie Martinez of Loganville, Georgia. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Marge Ash, Duane and Mary Ash, Jim and Gaye Ash; sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Dwaine Johnson, all of Nebraska; along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Benton County Humane Society, 1736 E. 7th Ave., Kennewick, WA 99337. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at Mueller's Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave., in Kennewick.
