O.J. Cobb, 90, a longtime resident of Kennewick, WA, passed away January 21, 2013 at home. O.J. was born in Friendship, Arkansas, the youngest child of Ira and Ottie G. Woods. In his youth, he left home at 16, and later graduated from Bear High School in Utah. Before entering the Army, O.J. was employed by the California Shipbuilding Corporation in San Pedro, CA. He worked on the construction of new ships. He met the love of his life, Dorothy G. Schweitzer, and they married on September 10, 1943. O.J. served in the Army and The European Theater of Operations. He drove an ambulance, carrying the sick and wounded personnel from trains and planes to a large General Hospital. O.J. was a medical aidman, and medical tech. He served in France, Germany, and England. One of his most interesting stories was when he was on a hospital ship on the English Channel, in total darkness, to not to be detected by German submarines in the area. In 1946, he moved his family to Washington State. He was an electrician/lineman. He was a Shriner of El Katif and Masonic Temple. O.J. was in the Shriners Dirty Dozen and Clown, His greatest Joy was transporting children to Shriners Children's Hospital in Spokane. O.J. was preceded in death by his wife and two sisters. O.J. is survived by his children, Jane Ahlf of Spokane, Pat and Ken Williams of Kennewick, and Joy Langdell of Burbank; grandchildren, Michele Sullivan of Spokane, Kenny Williams of Pasco, Jade and Leann Williams of Finley, and Richard and Lisa Langdell of Burbank; great grandchildren, Kody Williams, Kelsi Dillon, Kayla Mahozzi, Keaton Williams, Kris and Nick Isherwood, Kristen Williams, Samantha and Devin Langdell; great great grandchild Hunter Dillon; brother Thomas Cobb of Missouri; sister, Loweda Foreman or Arkansas; and a special friend, caregiver and companion Ina Parker. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital in Spokane.
