Norma G. Funnell, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer?s. Norma was born in Seattle, WA on November 1, 1924 to Gunvald and Lottie Torie. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1943 and immediately went to work at Boeing to support the war effort. She was responsible for installing the control cables in several types of bombers. After the war Norma went to work at the Seattle First National Bank and worked there for 10 years. She met the love of her life when her cousin, Adolph Torie, came to visit from Alberta, Canada and brought with him Gordon J. Funnell. After a long distance courtship, Norma and Gordon were married on July 7, 1951 at the home of Norma?s parents. After living for a year in Canada, they moved to Marysville, WA where Gordon went to work for Norma?s dad. During the next several years, they spent their time raising four children, Gordon working construction, and church duties as members of the Church of Christ. Norma and Gordon moved to Kennewick, WA in 1964 and became active members of the Kennewick Church of Christ family. Norma went back to work when the children were older as a bank teller and retired in 1984. During her retirement years she stayed busy with helping family, volunteering at Kennewick General and with various church activities. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Albert. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gordon; children, Gregory Funnell Beverly Richland, WA, Gerald Funnell Kennewick, WA, Sharon Dunn Don Pasco, WA, and Valerie Massie Bob Richland, WA; grandchildren, Amy McDevitt Matt Oklahoma City, OK, B.J. Massie Brandy Pasco, WA, Jared Massie Missoula, MT, Melissa Dunn Richland, WA, Emily Dunn Spokane, WA, and Andy DunnWhitney Kennewick, WA; great grandchildren, Waylynn Dunn and Logan Massie. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kennewick Church of Christ, 3926 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick with interment to follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
