Nancy June (Borsheim) Ostergaard was called home by our Lord and Savior on October 30, 2023, at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA, with her nephew Mike at her side. She passed at the age of 75—one week before her 76th birthday.

Nancy was born on November 8, 1947, at Kadlec Hospital to Gehard "Slim" Bernard Borsheim and Bertha Beulah (Bates) Borsheim. Her family lived on Snow Avenue in Richland for many years, and later the family had a cherry orchard and lived on Old River Road (Columbia Park Drive) in Kennewick, just below where the Edison Street overpass is now located.

Nancy graduated from Kennewick High School in 1966 where she played viola and was an active member of 4H, caring for horses Babe and Bing. She was also a member of the honor society and on the student council. She went on to graduate from Pomona College in 1970 with a BA in Government and Economics. She married Daniel Vernon Ostergaard and later divorced.

Nancy taught in the Kennewick and Richland school districts for many years. Later in life, she tutored English as a second language. She also volunteered at Allied Arts Gallery and was a past president and active member of the Three Rivers Folklife Society.

Nancy loved music and singing and had a lovely singing voice. She was also an accomplished seamstress, Nordstrom shopper, and snappy dresser. Several of her sewing projects won ribbons at the fair. She loved reading and history (briefly working at the Franklin County Historical Society) and participated in a local ladies book club, a local hat ladies social group, and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Nancy was robbed of her independence in her final years due to dementia, living in the care of Hawthorne Court and later Callaway Gardens. She is preceded in death by her parents Bertha and Slim, sister Carolyn, brother Eugene, and brother George. She is survived by sisters-in-law Sandy and Judy, nieces Becky, Bridget, and Cynthia, and nephews Eric and Mike.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, November 17, from 4pm to 8pm at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home in Kennewick. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 18, at 1pm at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick, near the northeast corner of the cemetery. (Both are located at 1401 S.
