On Monday, June 20th, 2022, our beloved Nancy J D'Hondt (Cummins) was welcomed into her eternal home. She was born, September 14th, 1939, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to her parents Lilly Ann and George Cummins. Nancy would later be blessed with three sisters: Cathy, Diana, and Georgine. Throughout their childhood they lived many places - such as Gresham & Pendleton, Oregon to Soap Lake, North Richland, and Grandview, Washington. As a teenager, they settled in The Dalles, Oregon before heading to Pasco, Washington where she graduated from Pasco High School in 1957. In the Summer of 1957, she attended the Toppenish Pow Wow where she met Lawrence F D'Hondt – after a brief courtship they married in The Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Pasco, Washington on June 14th of 1958. They were married for over 50 years, and he loved her endlessly. They were blessed with four boys, Richard, Steven, Robert, and Douglas. She supported them in school, sports, and scouting. Nancy was very active in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother with her husband Lawrence they promoted and supported their boys through Scouting. In Boy Scouts all her boys attained the rank of Eagle Scout. She touched many lives through her involvement with scouting. Nancy and Larry were also very active in the Catholic Church – especially Our Lady of Lourdes in Selah, Washington. In 1992, after Larry's retirement – they began to travel and made it to all 50 states and visited multiple countries. They also spent this time with family, as they absolutely loved their grandchildren. She never missed decorating for a holiday, growing up we all spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together in their Selah house. Nancy would spend days preparing all the food and baking the desserts. Nancy always made the best pies. It made her truly happy to have everyone together. Nancy leaves behind family, friends and many people who loved her. She is survived by sons; Richard (Kimberly) D'Hondt of WA, Steven D'Hondt of RI, Robert (Elena) D'Hondt of OR, Douglas D'Hondt of WA; grandchildren, Laura, Camille (Cameron), Isabel, Cecilia, Monica, Samuel, Sarah, Anna, Mason and Elizabeth D'Hondt; two great grandchildren, Axel & Ezelynn Estep; sisters, Cathy Wilson of OR, Diana (Carl) Compton of OR and Georgine Chapman of WA; and countless other family members. We are thankful she is being reunited with her beloved husband, Lawrence "Larry" D'Hondt; her mother Lilly Ann (Ralph) Henderson and Father George Cummins; brothers in law Norman Wilson, and Dale "Skip" Chapman; plus, her many overjoyed family and friends who have missed her as much as we will. Services will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2022, at our Lady of Lourde's Catholic Church in Selah, Washington. A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Catholic Mass will start at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon at Noon. Final resting will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery in Yakima, Washington. Please direct all flower orders to Morris Floral in Sunnyside, Washington.
