Obituary

Murl G Stephens, born to Wilhelmina (Schroeder) and William Stephens on 6-18-31. He and his family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1943. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Hawaii. He married Joyce (Jo) Jacobsen on 10-19-56. They were married 32 years until her passing in 1989.

His favorite hobbies were puzzles, shooting pool, bowling, and socializing. He especially enjoyed teaming with his daughter Joy in playing fantasy football at the Office Tavern, and trying to outscore his son, Jon. Murl bowled 2 perfect 300 games (1964 & 2008). He was the custodian at Lincoln Elementary School, from which he retired in 2001. He enjoyed working around the children and the teachers.

He is survived by sons Jim Jacobsen (Chris) and Jeff Stephens (Karen); his daughter, Joy Davis (Alan Davis); daughter-in-law DaLinda Stephens; his brother Leland Stephens (Cheryl); and his sister, Mary Ann Fowler. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jo Stephens, son Jon Stephens, sisters Velda Colby, & Rusta Watt. He was always smiling and enjoying his life.
