Obituary

Mildred Irene Stinnette "Millie" was born May 6, 1924 in Lamar, Nebraska to Ray and Maude Surber. She went home to be with the Lord April 21, 2016. She was the youngest of seven children, one brother and five sisters, excluding her twin sister Mary Eilene who passed away shortly after birth. She grew up on a farm and was no stranger to hard work. After high school she attended Chardon College in Chadron, Nebraska with her sister Muriel. After graduation she taught school in a one room county school. She really enjoyed the variety of teaching all eight grades in the small class environment. She married Murville (Murv) Stinnette on May 16, 1948. They moved from Nebraska to Colorado where they started a family. Their daughter Carmen was born to them on September 27, 1949 followed by their son Stephen on September 17, 1951. Shortly thereafter the family moved to the Northwest where Murv worked as a carpenter following the construction of many hydroelectric dams. The couple ultimately settled in Pasco, Washington in the early 1970's. Millie was always a hard working mother and home maker. While her family was growing up she also held various other jobs including: selling Avon, working at the Green Giant canning factory in Dayton, administrative assistant in the Joe Groom Real Estate offices in Dayton and the Tri-Cities, and administrative assistant to Pastor Phil of what is now the South Hills Church in Kennewick. Millie was very proud of the house that Murv built for them in Pasco in the early 1970's. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, vegetables, grapes and walnuts on that place. She loved Bible study and church groups at the South Hills Church and was very active in the Good News Club for children, baking cookies for Child Evangelism, calling and praying for those on pray lists. Mille has 5 grandchildren and 9 great grand children. Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick.
