Mickey Gene Dickinson, born January 29th, 1942 to Melvin and Ethel Dickinson of Finley, WA, went home to the Lord early Tuesday morning the 9th day of May in the year of our Lord 2006. He was the beloved husband of Jan Dickinson, proud father of sons Craig, Chad and Curt Dickinson all of Finley and Daughter Colleen Frazier of North Bend, WA, along with her husband Jim Frazier and his daughters-in-law Dora, Donna, and Melanie Dickinson and Sonja Rogers. He was also the amazed and dazed grandfather of seven grandsons and seven granddaughters. Mick came from a large family of seven boys and two girls. He is preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister and brother and brothers Kenny, Dick and Melvin Jr. He is survived by brother Larry Dickinson, brother Bill Dickinson and his wife Janet, his sister Winnie Shrock and her husband Cork, sister-in-law Leona Dickinson and many nieces and nephews. He always excelled at sports winning the 'Old Ozzie' contest, now known as Kick, Punt, and Pass, for the State of Washington when he was in school. He also played aggressive basketball but baseball was his favorite. He played semipro, coached Little League while his sons were growing up, then switched to umpiring while continuing to play mens softball and coaching womens softball. He loved his Harley and the roar it made, being in the mountains, sitting at the fishing bank, flying RC planes and watching the kids play ball. But most of all he loved his family and his God. He put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and so we know that we will see him again someday. He served his country in the military doing two tours of duty in Vietnam as a green beret as well as being a drill instructor later. Mick was a quiet man, hard to get to know, but he had a heart as big as the whole outdoors. He never had much but if you needed what he had, it was yours. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at the Finley First Baptist Church. Flowers may be sent to the church Saturday morning.
