Michael Edwin
Smith
Apr 12, 1954 — Feb 11, 2024
Michael Edwin Smith passed away at home on February 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
Michael was born to Joseph and Lorraine Smith on April 12, 1954 in Fort Ord, California. In 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Valerie Griffith. They have two beautiful children, Chad Michael and Stephanie Autumn and three beautiful granddaughters, Autumn Elizabeth, Leah Mikaila and Saoirse Grace.
When he wasn't bowling or golfing, you could catch him tending the lawn or washing his truck. More than anything, he just enjoyed spending time with his family. He cherished the time they spent playing games, watching sports, barbecuing, or just sitting with each other and watching television.
Michael was respected by all who met him and loved by all who truly knew him. He was a kind, gentle, loving man who dedicated his life to being a strong example for others and good provider for his family. He was a role model to his children, who will always remember his love, his sense of humor and his desire to make their mama happy.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Valerie, son Chad Michael (Marilyn), daughter Stephanie Autumn (Dustin Duane), granddaughters Autumn, Leah and Saoirse, mother Lorraine and siblings Terry (Becky), Deena Lewis (Keith), Chris Walsh (Jim) and Lorra Lemiere (Dan), in-laws Vici Weatherby, Sharon Fairchild, Pam Hutchins (Bill) and Becky Armatrout (Greg), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He joins his father Joseph Smith, mother-in-law Billie Bolton (Griffith), father-in-law Jack Bolton, brother-in-law Jerry Weatherby and nieces Lacey Belliston, Kari Dickinson and Cindy Weatherby.
After a long hard battle with cancer, he is now at peace and will live on in our hearts forever. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
