Obituary

On the first day of Spring March 20, 2017, our angel on earth left us to join Dad in heaven. Mom was born to Jesse Crockett Worthington and Carrie Agnes Ricker Worthington on March 8, 1924 in Oklahoma City, OK. When she was 12 years old, they moved to San Diego, CA. She was the 3rd of 4 daughters: Bernice, Olga, Merle and Dorothy. She attended Our Lady of Peace Academy. After schooling, she worked as a billing clerk for Nabisco Co. She also volunteered as a hostess at the San Diego USO. It was there at a Bishop's Tea that she and dad met. She married the love of her life, Don Larkin on August 24, 1944. They had 5 children, Kathleen, Danny, Debbi Jo, Patti Sue, and Tim. She was an active member of Regina Coeli, a Catholic mother's club. Dad was a career Navy man, so mom was a single mom during dad's many deployments. Dad and her children were always first and foremost in her life. When dad retired, they moved back to Kennewick, Dad's hometown. They were still raising the 3 youngest children. Mom was active with all their school activities and scouting. For a time, she was the leader of the girls' Scout troop. Mom was a lyric soprano. Her voice was like an angel. She gave all of her children the gift of music. She joined the choir at St. Joseph Parish and sang every Sunday until 2008 when cancer radiation treatments robbed her of her singing voice. She and Dad loved snowbirding and traveling to historic places, such as the Grand Canyon and Little Big Horn. Everyone who ever met her always described her as "such a sweet person". Dad left the following quote about her: "She was an outstanding Navy wife, Officer's Lady and all around great mom." She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don, her parents and all of her sisters. She leaves behind a family that loves her dearly. Surviving her are her daughter Kathleen ( Charles) Wilson, son Daniel ( Gail) Larkin, daughter Debra (Randy) Fisler, daughter Patricia ( Alan) Horst, and son Timothy ( Laurie) Larkin, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Viewing will be held at Mueller's Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave Kennewick, WA,Thursday March 23, 2017 From 4-8 Pm with a Rosary at 6:00 PM. Friday 10 Am Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish. Any donations can be made to Chaplaincy Hospice or St. Joseph's Parish.
