Melvin William Gubler, age 80, passed from this earthly home to eternal life, peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on November 28, 2006. Mel was born on December 23, 1925, to George Henry Gubler and Ann Elizabeth Vance in Lund, Nevada. He served in the Air Corps during the conflicts of WWII. He married Eva Rae Yates on June 8, 1947, then on June 12, 1951. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1947, they made the Tri-Cities their home. He owned and operated Mel's Auto and Truck Repair until retiring in 1993. After raising their children, Mel and Eva served three missions, two in Nauvoo, Illinois, and one in Independence, Missouri. Mel was an amazing and wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a simple and humble man who could always find the good in others. Mel found his solitude hunting in the Blue Mountains. Though a quiet man, he had an amazing sense of humor. During the passed several years through his courageous struggle with cancer, he was determined to live life to the fullest of his ability spending precious time with family and friends. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his son-in-law, James Yates. Mel is survived by a brother, Edmund Millie Gubler, and sister, Ann Bob Stever, his devoted wife of 59 years, Eva, two sons, Randy Susan Gubler, Jeffery Mickey Gubler, daughters Kathie Ron Light and Karen Gordon Graff, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A viewing is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m Friday, December 1, at Mueller's Funeral Home at 1401 S. Union, Kennewick Washington. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Paradise Chapel in West Richland, Washington. Internment will be at Desert Lawns Memorial Park, with graveside services planned for 1:30 p.m. Farewell, love and gratitude to the patriarch of our family.
