Melba Bennett Gunter Kennewick, Wash. Melba Bennett Gunter passed away on October 21, 2006, in her home in Kennewick. She was born March 3, 1918 in Virginia, Idaho to Chauncey Philemon and Amy Juchau Bennett. She married Arlo Rufus Gunter on September 26, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a young woman Melba taught school in a one room school house. She and Arlo farmed in Block 11 near Connell for 38 years. She worked in the banking industry for twenty-five years. She and Arlo settled in Kennewick after leaving for the farm. A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served three missions with her husband and worked in the Seattle Temple for nine years. Melba is much loved by her large family for her generosity and strength. She is survived by her three sons Garth Joan, Alan Linda and Jay Carol; eighteen grandchildren and 61 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Arlo. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Mueller's Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick and on Friday at the Hansen Park Chapel at 9:00 a.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Hansen Park Chapel at 8120 W. 4th Avenue in Kennewick.
