Maxine "Mickey" Carmichael passed away January 20, 2014 at her home in Kennewick. She was born July 24, 1932 to Opal Saling and Clarence V. McCoy in Bonnerdale, Arkansas. Maxine was raised by her mother and loving stepfather and "Daddy", Cecil Dodd. Most family and friends came to know her by the nickname of Mickey which stayed with her throughout life and seemed to fit her personality perfectly. Mickey was a member of the class of 1950 at Kennewick High School. On August 4, 1951, she married Burton "Bud" Carmichael in Kelso, Washington. They relocated to Kennewick to raise a family and build their lives. Mickey was an involved mother, volunteering with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4-H, and as a room mother for all three children. She was PTA president, also mentoring young mothers teaching them to drive and cook. She was always ready to help friends and family. Mickey loved the beach, camping and fishing with family. She took great delight in teaching her granddaughters to bake, cook and preserve foods. She was extremely proud that both of her grandsons were Eagle Scouts and all of her children and grandchildren were following their dreams. Mickey and Bud owned several businesses over the years. Upon retirement, they bought a farm in the shadow of Mt. Baker were they raised Charolais and Simmental cattle, always had a huge garden, welcoming family and friends to share in the experience. Mickey is survived by her husband of 62 years, Burton; daughters Paula Culverhouse and Guyla Pelleboer (Herman); five grandchildren Justin Culverhouse (Jennifer), Teagan Culverhouse, and Jordan Culverhouse; Stacy Van Werven (Jordan) and Kevin Pelleboer (Tanya); seven great-grandsons, Hunter, Connor and Oliver Culverhouse; Kohen, Bryson and Nolan Van Werven; and Corbin Pelleboer. She is survived by sisters Barbara Carmichael (Chuck) and Connie Hart. Also, close family and friends Terry Culverhouse, Bridget Rodasky, Robin Hill and Frances Camp. She was preceded in death by son Steven Max Carmichael, great-grandchildren Tristan, Sophia and Charlotte Culverhouse, her parents, and sister, Patricia Smith. Mickey's smiling face and warm greeting will be missed by all who knew her. Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Kennewick is in charge of arrangements. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
