Mary Ann
Mackie
Jun 23, 1940 — Sep 30, 2023
MaryAnn Mackie, 83 of Kennewick, WA, beloved wife of Walter G. Mackie went to be with Jesus on September 30, 2023. MaryAnn was born on June 23, 1940, in Cambridge MA. She was the daughter of the late George and Margaret "Peg" Sainato. MaryAnn grew up in Lexington MA where she attended Lexington High School and was crowned "Lady Lexington" in 1958. MaryAnn was a part of the Lexington cheerleading squad as well as a member of a talented vocal trio that performed on WBZ-TV Community Auditions. It was rumored that the trio was talented enough to have easily gone on to fame and fortune had they chosen that path.
MaryAnn married her high school sweetheart Walter in 1961 and had 4 beautiful children. She lived a full life, first and foremost, as a wonderful mother and homemaker. She never lost her love for all things music and would pass that love on to her daughter. She enjoyed shopping and decorating her home with little treasures she'd find on her travels. She was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing into her early 80's. She was always ready for a good laugh and had an easy nature about her. As her children grew older, she worked at a bank, and then at a grocery deli. MaryAnn and Walter eventually opened and operated their own catering business. She and Walter retired in 2006 and relocated to Kennewick, WA in 2009.
MaryAnn was a dedicated wife and mother who treasured her children and embraced every moment with family. She especially loved her role as Nana to her eight grandchildren and her five great-grandchildren. MaryAnn is survived by husband Walter; three sons and their wives, Scott and Cheryl Mackie, George and Linda Mackie and Walter Mackie Jr.; daughter and husband, Jessica and Kent Glowa; Grandchildren; Kyle, Kim, Katherine, Kristina, Kaley, Casey, James and Jacob; Great-grandchildren; Sofia, Carter, Maverick, Calloway and Kennedi.
