Obituary

Mary Frances Lint September 28, 1950-October 22, 2023

Mary Frances Lint, née Clarno was born to Frank and Julia Clarno in Walla Walla, WA on September 28, 1950. She was the fourth of five children, with siblings Bob, Susan, Sheila & Virginia.

Mary attended elementary school at St Patrick's Catholic school in Walla Walla and graduated from Desales High School in 1968. While in high school she worked at the Arctic Circle, where she met and was married to John Percy Werttemberger from 1970 to 1974. Their son Trevor was born September 3, 1972.

Mary worked at Sears in Walla Walla from roughly 1969 to 1975, then moved to Kennewick and transferred to the Sears there.

In 1978, Mary met Rick Lint at Columbia Park and they were married September 30, 1978. Their daughters Tara, Tracy and Tami were born in 1979, 1981 and 1982, respectively. Mary, Rick and the four children moved to upstate New York in 1983. Her

husband's career took them around the country before settling in Waitsburg, WA in 1988. Mary and Rick separated in the early 1990s.

Mary attended community college in Walla Walla, and received her associate's degree in accounting in 1993. She worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and then settled into a long and stable accounting career at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, where lived, as she would say, "the baddies".

Mary moved to Kennewick in 2009 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She retired from her work at the penitentiary in 2016.

As a child, Mary loved Nancy Drew books. Mary loved reading, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, needlework, her computer, warm socks & blankets and most of all, her children and grandchildren. Mary will be remembered and loved for her independence, stubbornness, intelligence, quick wit and humor.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Frank Clarno & Julia Murphy, her stepmother Leona Clarno, brother Bob Clarno and sisters Virginia Walters and Susan Mays. She is survived by her sister Sheila Fifield (Tom) of Elk, WA; son Trevor Werttemberger of Spokane, daughter Tara Lint of Kennewick, daughter Tracy Burke (Brendan) of Spokane, and daughter Tami Failor of Kennewick. Mary was the biggest champion of her six grandchildren; Alex, Mikael, Tyler, Addi, Cohen and Harper, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
