Mary Ellen Gibson went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 22, 2008. She was born July 15, 1950 in Rexburg, Idaho to Paul and Evelyn Louise Smith Bouvia. Her family left Idaho shortly after her birth to live in Tifton, Georgia. She lived in Georgia for five years with her parents and five sisters and two brothers. At the age of six Mary Ellen, along with her siblings, were placed in St. Mary's Children's Home Sisters of Mercy in Savannah, Georgia. Since Idaho was the home of her Grandfather and Grandmother John and Anna Ora Beebe Bouvia, Mary's Grandmother Bouvia insisted that in 1958, she with her brothers and sisters be brought to Idaho by train to live at St. Joseph's Children's Home Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet in Culdesac, Idaho. There she lived until she graduated from grade school. Mary then moved to Cottonwood, Idaho to live with John and Lillian Lustig. After her parents left the family in 1958, she felt blessed and loved in the care of Sisters in Georgia and Idaho. Her blessings continued in the love and support of the Lustig family. Following high school graduation in 1969, she loved working with patients in nursing homes, which was her vocation until she fell ill. Mary shared her life with two husbands Ken Murphy and Ray Gibson. She was preceded in death by her father Paul Bouvia. Survivors include her husband Ray; children Theresa Marie Murphy, Tanya Michelle Murphy, Tina Louise Gibson, Dan G. Gibson and Debra R. Gibson; grandchildren Kyrsten, Adrianne, Ashley, Kari, Michelle, Kyle, Kaylee, McKenna, Kolten, Alexandria and other adopted loved ones. Her greatest joy was talking about her childhood, grandchildren and her children, reminiscing with old pictures and visiting with her sisters. Graveside Services will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, 1pm, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park located at 10th and Union Street in Kennewick.
