Mary L. Davis 8-1-1924 to 9-2-2009 Longtime Tri-Citian Mary Davis has now passed away at age 85. Born of Chinese descent in Pasco 1924 to Leeland and Mary How Lee she would be the 1st of their 4 children. A child of the Great Depression, Mary learned to work hard at an early age. From necessity would spring a lifelong love affair with food, her favorites being fruits and vegetables. Mary graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Walla Walla and soon headed to the Tri-Cities for greater opportunity. A restauranteur throughout her life Mary was proud of the fact that she had opened the Tri-Cities first Chinese Restaurant in 1947. Located on Columbia Drive in Kennewick the business she named 'The Bamboo Inn' would exist and be run by her parents for another 20 years. During that time in Kennewick, she also owned and operated Mary's Dog House. A place where she sold the 'World's Biggest Hamburger' to customer's for 5 cents. Mary spent her entire life looking after others, be it in business or with family and friends. She was one of those few truly good souls who walk among us. Her light is already sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Davis and Brothers Donald and Richard Lee. She is survived by her sister, Pearl Magnuson, daughter Mary Michele Walker, grandsons Kim Davis and Rick Walker, nieces Cheryl Lee Powell and daughter Serena Williams all of Kennewick, nephew Richard Lee of Spokane, and niece Kelly Jared Balcom with children Mckaila and Blake of Pasco. Services for Mary will be held Wednesday, September 9th at 1:00 pm in Kennewick's St. Joseph's Catholic Chapel with a reception in Dillon Hall to follow.
