Mary Ellen Cameron was born on September 8, 1923 in a little town of Wausaukee, WI. She later moved to Norway, MI to be with her sister and graduated from High School there in 1941. Her graduating class was the last class before WWII. After graduating from high school she went into Nursing School for 3 years in Kankakee, IL. Mary and her nursing class all volunteered to enter the United States Army Air Corps.. Mary lived and worked as an Army nurse on a series of Air Bases. She met her future husband who was an Air Force Pilot during this time. They married in Berkstrom AFB in Austin, TX on November 9, 1948. Mary resigned from the Air Force and became a full-time stay-at-home mother and volunteer. Mary moved to the Tri-Cities with her husband Bill in 1975. While she lived here, she was very active in Our lady of Lourdes Hospital Auxiliary and St. Patrick's Church. Mary especially loved gardening, reading, knitting, quilting, and playing bridge. Most of all Mary loved her family which brought much joy to her life. Mary is survived by her five daughters: Sara Bench (Thomas), Susan Ward, Mary Anne Getchell (Jeffrey), Patricia Campbell (Duncan), and Cheryl Eskeberg (Bruce). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband William, sons Richard and William (Ivy), and grandson Colin. Mary Ellen Cameron died peacefully in the Legacy House on December 18, 2018 in Kennewick WA at the age of 95. A Memorial Mass will be said on Friday February 8, 2019 at 3:00 at St. Patrick's Church in Pasco, WA. There will be a reception immediately following.
