Marlene
Denchel
Apr 15, 1948 — May 9, 2025
It is with great sadness we are announcing the passing of Marlene Denchel. She went home to be with the Lord on May 9th, 2025, in Mesquite, Nevada.
She was born to Albert and Wanda Lee Bunney April 15, 1948. Marlene was a wonderful, loving, caring, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and special friend to many. Marlene worked as a data processor at Spokane Community College in the 1970's. She then moved to Kennewick and worked as a checker at Albertsons in Pasco for 26 years. She always had a long line of people waiting to come through her line because she made everyone feel so special and would take the time to talk with them. Her customers loved her. One of those customers was her husband Don who she met there. She had a love for traveling with Don. They enjoyed traveling especially in the 5th wheel going down south during the winters once they retired. They finally made a decision to buy their dream house in Mesquite, Nevada and made that home for the last few years. This also helped with the pain she endured from Rheumatoid arthritis since it would flair up during the winter storm season. She never complained about her pain, but we knew she always had a lot of it. She loved collecting Precious Moments figurines and dolls, Ralph Lauren clothes, shopping, getting a good deal, photography, and talking with people. She will be missed by us all.
She is survived by her husband, Don Denchel of Mesquite, NV; Daughter and son-in-law April and Bruce Culbertson of Pasco, WA; Grandchildren Kason and Shaye Culbertson. Stepdaughters: Ena-Marie Chalk of El Cerrito, CA, Alexis Donnell Denchel-Norman of Spokane, Stepson: Addam Denchel of Kennewick, Step grandchildren; Bobby Chalk, Melissa Guffey, Garrett Culbertson, Jonell Denchel, Annelle Bethea, Step great grandson; Sawyer Culbertson, Step great granddaughter; Sol Chalk. Brother; Gary Bunney of Deer Park, WA, and Sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Bill Benedict of Bellevue, WA. Numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Wanda Bunney, Adopted dad Robert Stevenson (Papa Bob), brother Doug Bunney, sister Cherie Kentner, step granddaughter Amelia Chalk.
She was laid to rest on May 22, 2025, at a graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
