Marjorie (also known by Marji) was born January 13, 1940, in St. Marys, Pottawatomie County, Kansas to Cleo Clyde and Thelma (Prather) Chrest. Like a lot of families during World War Two, the family moved to Yakima, Washington in 1941, then onto Tacoma, Washington where she attended schools, graduating from Lincoln High School. Following graduation she moved to Yakima, WA where her sister and family lived, and where she worked at Yakima Herald Newspaper and subsequently met and married David A. Cochran on October 15, 1960. Following their marriage David began working with GE at the Hanford Project which prompted their move to Tri-Cities.

In 1972 she began work at Battelle Labs until taking disability retirement. They subsequently moved into a manufactured home community which they managed for a few years before deciding to take retirement in 2004 which began their next adventure- traveling and volunteering these beautiful United States of America. They made a travel trailer their home for the next few years along with Marji's service dog Aka. After which they soldiered on for several years crisscrossing America visiting family, friends, and volunteering until moving into an apartment in Kennewick.

Their travels included visiting many historic places and included visiting places where each other's families had lived, homesteaded or lived. They also collected old family stories, pictures, and learned more about their heritage. In 2017 they sold the RV and settled down to living in the Tri-Cities once again. She is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Kennewick WA.

Those last years of volunteering were happily spent with the Oregon State Parks Department including several winters spent at Fort Yamhill, Grand Ronde. And after coming back to the Tri-Cities, she often spoke of having left a part of herself in places including Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheridan, Oregon

Marji is survived by her former husband David, sons Douglas (Darla) Cochran, Phillip (Diosa) Cochran, daughters Renee Cochran, and Johanna (Chris) Davis, and include many nieces and nephews plus several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Chauncey V. Wintermute, step-mother La Junta M. Sayre Schobinger, sisters Mary A. Demmer and Melba Renfro, brother John E. Renfro, sister Doris Demmer, brother James J. Schobinger, and her ever faithful service dog Aka who taught her how to live with multiple sclerosis.

Graveside services at Mueller's Desert Lawn in Kennewick. In lieu of flowers family wishes donations be made to Shrine Hospital, Spokane; Tri-City Cancer Center or your favorite charity.
