Marion Elizabeth Monson Vladimiroff passed away Aug. 12, 2006, at her home in Kennewick, WA. after a valiant fight with cancer. Marion was born in Salt Lake City, UT on June 3, 1942, daughter of Harold and Helen Monson. She moved to the Tri-Cities in 1944, living first in Richland, WA and later in Benton City where her parents owned an orchard. She graduated from BYU in 1965 and returned to teach in Kiona-Benton High School after a short stint working on the Hanford site. She married David Theodore Vladimiroff on Dec. 29, 1966, settling in Richland until 1975 when they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. She loved living in Alaska. She was thrilled by the beautiful scenery and wildlife. She enjoyed having moose, bear and other creatures come into the yard, at least when she was safely inside the house. They lived in Alaska until 1993 and have visited Alaska annually since then. In 1993, Marion and Dave returned to the Tri-Cities where Marion was employed at the Richland Public Library. Marion was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she had been Primary President, Young Women's President and Relief Society President. She had taught the adult Sunday School class, volunteered at the Family History Center and at the Columbia River Temple. Her family was her life and she loved being able to attend important milestones and events to cheer on her husband, children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Monson. She is survived by her husband Dave, daughter Susan DeFord and husband Doug and their children Daryl, Heather, Peter, Emily, Michael, and Adam, of Kennewick, WA; daughter Dorene Farr and husband Eric and their children Jaide, Zachary, and Eva, of Springfield, OR; son Rob and wife Shauna, of Springville, UT; son Brian and wife Stacey and their son, Parker of Richland, WA. She is also survived by her father Harold Monson and siblings Margaret Page, Annette Pierce, Vicki Moore, Lanny Monson, Kim Poole, and Rick Monson. She will be greatly missed by the many people who knew and loved her. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, August 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Homes, 1401 S. Union St., Kennewick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
