Marilyn Rae Buck, 85 began her next adventure August 3rd, 2023.

Marilyn was born December 18th, 1937, in Spokane Washington. She was a loving wife, and mother of 5, with 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Growing up in Spokane Valley she attended Barker Elementary, Opportunity Junior High and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1956.  She had perfect penmanship. While attending Central Valley High she met the love of her life Galen. She was at a rodeo with a friend where they each were roped by Galen in a rodeo dating game. He asked them to join him for a horseback ride the next day at which only Marilyn showed up. Galen and Marilyn were inseparable ever since. They married at the Veradale Church next to her mom's house and moved to Richland Washington soon after.

They had 5 children from 1957 to 1962 and Marilyn took them everywhere. One notable trip was when the family moved to Illinois. Galen went ahead to start his new job with Battelle and find a house. Marilyn followed weeks later and drove with her 5 kids and her friend Vera as copilot the 2000 or so miles in their 1962 station wagon pulling a covered Jeep trailer.

She was a strong, vibrant, and confident woman, capable of any challenge. She never hesitated at any task or adventure.

Marilyn was a cook by trade, working for many establishments around the Tri-Cities. She loved to cook. She was a member of the Kennewick Newcomers, who published a cookbook in 1988. Marilyn's recipes can be found on page 28 for Frozen Cranberry Salad, Macaroni Cheese Pie on page 61 and her Fresh Peach Pie on page 105.

She loved their cabin at Newman Lake. She got the shady side of the Peninsula and Cousin Jack got the sunny side. There were many days sitting in the shade with the view of the lake and many paddle boat rides made around the peninsula for visits.

She loved sewing and quilting and her embroidery machine. She looked forward to and planned for the annual quilt show every year where she would attend with her quilting friends and family. Buying material and pieces for the next quilt, returning to Marilyn's studio for show-and-tell. Marilyn loved her studio.

Marilyn loved animals and her love grew beyond the dogs, Mickey, Bruin, Captain, Sister and Hagar, the cats, Marie, Dottie, and Danny. There was Alexander the pet goose and the chicken………. Mrs. Chicken to name of few of the family pets.  It was common for Mrs. Chicken to vacation at Newman Lake.  Neighbors would have to call Marilyn to get Mrs. Chicken back to her own yard. Alexander the goose a cat and a couple parakeets made the 2000-mile trip back from Illinois.

Marilyn will be remembered for her spunk, adventuresome spirit, and caring heart. Her offering a "cup of tea" and always made you feel welcomed in her home.

Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years Galen, oldest son Tim (Lisa) Buck, youngest daughter Corky (Mark) Clark and youngest son Pete (Sandy) Buck. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Cary Lee Buck and middle son Gale (Renae) Buck.

Marilyn wanted a party; her celebration of life will be held at CG Public House & Catering from 3pm to 5pm Saturday August 26th.
