Obituary for Margaret (Peggy) Jeanne Cheney January 8, 1948 - June 3, 2021 Peggy was born on January 8, 1948 in Spokane, Washington to Lola Watson Cheney and Loren Lavern Cheney. She was the second of six children. She graduated from Kennewick High School (KHS) in the Class of 1966. She was active in school activities and on the staff of the KHS Lion's Roar newspaper. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. She married Richard Dean Strand on March 20, 1970 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Salt Lake Temple. They have three children: Carrie/Cara (Josh) Coley of Pasco, Washington, Paul Strand of Lacey, Washington, and David Strand of Mountlake Terrace, Washington. They also have five grandchildren- Tristan, Hannah, Hailey, Angelina, and Cooper. Peggy had lots of interests, hobbies, and a great sense of humor. She had a lovely voice and enjoyed singing in the Messiah and many musicals. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved flowers. Peggy enjoyed reading in the scriptures and loved to attend the Temple. Most of her life she struggled with mental illness which was the greatest trial of her life. Peggy died peacefully in her sleep on June 3, 2021. She will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is free from the bondage of her illness and now with her parents and other loved ones who preceded her in death.
