Manuela C. Mendez went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2018 at the age of 97. At the time of her passing, she lived in Kennewick but was a long-time resident of Pasco where she was an active member of St. Patrick's Church, a devoted Catholic, and the matriarch of her family. Manuela was born on December 23, 1920 in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was the youngest child of Vicente and San Juana Orta and had 8 older siblings, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Manuela was raised on small family ranch in Santa Rosa, Guanajuato, Mexico where she learned a healthy work ethic. On that same ranch Manuela met a ranch hand by the name of Pablo Mendez and eventually married on January 6, 1940. After starting their family, they moved around in Mexico from city to city while Pablo worked at many different ranches as a laborer and ranch hand. Manuela and the family eventually immigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in the Rio Grande Valley at La Puerta ranch. Looking for better opportunity for their family, the Mendez's moved and settled in Pasco, WA where Manuela worked as a child care provider, a field laborer and a housewife. Manuela was very loving, caring, and devoted to her family. She was very instrumental in helping to raise her grandchildren as she helped to take care of them while her sons and their wives worked and provided for their families. She loved to cook for her family and always had a meal ready anytime anyone came to the house. While her family came first, church came second. Manuela was deeply devoted to her faith and could always be found on Sundays at St. Patrick's church for Sunday mass. She was deeply involved with the "Guadalupanas" and assisted with teaching "Catecismo". Manuela knew many parishioners and was beloved by all who knew her and of her faith in the Lord. One of Manuela's favorite past-times was singing. She always sang the loudest at Sunday services and had the voice of an angel. Manuela was never shy about singing and would be more than happy to sing to anyone who asked her to sing them a song. Anytime she sang, she would light up the room and bring much joy to all who heard her sing. Manuela is survived by her sons Roberto, Juan, Paul Jr. and her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who she adored very much. Manuela was preceded in death by her three daughters, her husband Pablo, and her great granddaughter Zayana Grace Mendez. The Mendez family would like to invite all of Manuela's friends and family to celebrate her long, joyous life with a viewing on Sunday July 15, 2018 from 5-8PM. There will also be an additional viewing held on Monday July 16, 2018 at 4-6PM with a Rosary immediately following from 6-8PM. All viewings and the Rosary will be held at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home located at 1608 W. Court St. Pasco, WA. Memorial mass will be held on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at 11AM located at St. Patrick's Church 1320 W. Henry St. Pasco, WA.
