Reverend Lyndon (Lynn) Edwin Peterson Lyndon Edwin Peterson went to meet his Lord and Savior on March 16, 2018. Lyndon was born in Redwood City, CA on March 7, 1939 and died peacefully in his sleep and is survived by his four daughters and son-in-laws; Jadeane and Jim Payne, Lynette and Brad Low, Melody and Steven Ackerman, and Cherylene and Michael Wallace. He has 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Lyndon Edwin Peterson, Sr., his mother Gladys Lucille (Thomas) Peterson, sister Mona Kay Peterson and love of his life, Martha Jo Fay Weeden. Lynn graduated from Sequoia High School in 1957 and continued his education at Bethany Bible College in Scotts Valley, California where he studied Christian Ministry. There he met Martha while working as an elf at Santa's Village. He accepted God's call to minister as a pastor in numerous churches located in Wheatland, Susanville, and Jackson, California. While serving in Susanville, Lynn felt a new call to Missions. He prepared for this new assignment by training at the Assembly of God Missions Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. He then attended language school in San Jose, Costa Rica and a year later, moved to plant two new churches in Tucuman, Argentina. During his life, Lynn served in various capacities inside and outside the church in positions of Associate Pastor, Prison, Hospital and Airport Chaplain, Suicide Prevention Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor, Grief Counselor, and Senior's Pastor. Although retired, he continued to be involved in ministry by leading bible studies, small groups, volunteering in Prison Ministry at Coyote Ridge, and being a part of the Tri-Cities Union Gospel Mission. He also continued to officiate weddings and funerals up to his final year of life. In all these positions, Lynn made every interaction an opportunity to share God's love. His desire was to bring glory to God by living out his faith. Many of Lynn's ministry positions required him to be bi-vocational. He was a butcher, bus driver, taxi driver, radio broadcaster for Christian radio stations, and Mental Health Advisor for Arizona DSHS. He also worked for Exxon Nuclear Industries and Battelle, Richland during the 1970's and early 1980's. Lynn was an avid reader and loved movies. He found joy in nature and loved fishing. He always said he truly was "Peter's son". During his spare time, he volunteered for the Benton County Sheriff's Posse. Lynn loved his family deeply and enjoyed watching his grandkids sports and performances. He split the holidays between daughters and recently enjoyed the Sister Family Reunion that has become a new tradition. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Columbia Community Church, 150 Gage Blvd. in Richland, Washington.
