LORRAINE MAXINE ROBINSON Our beloved mother closed her eyes for the last time on May 1, 2018, at Kadlec Hospital. She was born March 17, 1928 to Early and Mary (Selvidge) Cooper at their home near Big Sandy, MT. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended her first years of elementary school in a one-room school house not far from the property her parents homesteaded. She told stories of cold winter mornings when she and her sister rode a horse to school with a warm baked potato in their pockets that they later ate for lunch. When she was a teenager, her parents relocated to California, near Fresno, and she worked packing fruit. She spent the Spring of 1948 in northern Idaho working at a county hospital where she received a salary and room and board. After work one night, she met a sailor who was home on leave. He walked her back to the hospital and they sat on the front steps and talked into the wee hours of the morning. Robert V Robinson and Lorraine were married September 18, 1948. They were married 68 years (Bob passed in June, 2016). Early in their marriage, Bob and Lorraine had a land clearing business in northern Idaho. Lorraine cooked for a crew of loggers on a wood stove with no running water. Her first child was born during this time. In 1955, the family relocated to Kennewick. They lived in the same house for over 60 years and raised four children there. Lorraine was an accomplished seamstress and cook. In addition, to caring for her family, she worked at various jobs outside the home. She retired from Welch Foods in Kennewick after more than 20 years of service. After retirement she enjoyed traveling and went on numerous cruises and other trips. Lorraine was the best Mom ever: growing up, we always knew she had our backs. Lorraine kept friends for years and family was very important to her. She maintained close relationships with neighbors, co-workers, and relatives. She was a conduit of current and historical information about her extensive family and friends. Lorraine is survived by her four children: Steve (Nancy), Clay, Gary (June) Robinson and Rhonda (Paul) Smith. Grandchildren: Paul (Sara) and Travis Robinson; Nicole Robinson and Regina (Robinson) Ahl; Nathan (Michelle), Trevor (Melissa) and Chad Smith. Great Grandchildren: Ellyana and Jack Robinson, Kaida and Adalise Ahl, Logan, Ryker and Ava Smith. Memorial service and reception will be Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 12:00 Noon; Muellers Funeral Home, 1401 S Union Street; Kennewick.
