Lorna Jean (Cherry) Slusser

May 20, 1930 – October 29, 2025

Lorna Jean Slusser, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born in Ephrata, Washington, on May 20, 1930, Lorna was the daughter of James Russell Cherry and Myrtle Parish. She grew up surrounded by love and laughter with her sisters, Dorothy and Ruth, and her brothers, Paul, John, and Lester.

Lorna married Philip Slusser in Spokane and shared 60 wonderful years together. Their first home was in Natatorium Park before moving to Spokane Valley, and later to Kennewick in 1969. There, they opened a pet store in Columbia Center Mall. Through hard work and dedication, they grew their business into a successful chain of pet stores, eventually retiring in 2000.

Family was the heart of Lorna's world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Philip, and their five children: Phillip, Harold (and wife Linda), Daniel (and wife Leslie), Mark (and wife Lori), and Wendy (and husband Dennis). She instilled in each of them the values of love, integrity, and togetherness that defined her own life.

Lorna was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother whose warmth and generosity will live on through her family: Jade, Gabrielle, Whitney (and son Jacob), Andrew (and wife Sabrina, and son Wylder), Eric, Allison (and husband Jungjin, and children Rae and Luan), Kylie, Casey (and wife Laurynn, and son Finan), Danielle, and Cody.

She lived a joyful, full life. One rich with family, friendship, and memorable adventures. Lorna will be fondly remembered for her kindness, her love of family gatherings, and her legendary Christmas cookies, candies, and potato salad. Always impeccably dressed and "runway ready," she brought style and sparkle to every occasion.

Lorna enjoyed yachting and cruising, visiting many countries around the world. She loved classic movie musicals and was a devoted fan of the Seahawks, the Mariners, and the Tri-City Americans hockey team.

Her life was a testament to love, devotion, strength, and perseverance. Lorna's grace and spirit touched everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, May 30, at 2:00 p.m.1401 S. Union St., Kennewick, WA

A celebration of life will follow the service.
