Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and with great victory that we announce the passing of Loran R. Adkins, who has made his way home to be with the Lord on October 15th, 2024, at the age of 65. Loran passed away peacefully, surrounded by his faithful wife, Janis and loved ones, leaving behind a strong and wealthy inheritance of faith and love.

Born on February 23rd, 1959, in Kennewick, Loran lived a life dedicated to his Savior and Lord Jesus, his family as a son to Larry and Jackie Adkins, husband, father, brother and a pastor to his community around him. Loran was a devoted member of Overcomer Covenant Church, where he found great joy in worship and fellowship. Loran lived out Christ's love through his compassionate and peaceful spirit, always ready to lend a hand, share a kind and funny word, or offer a simple prayer from his heart.

Loran was a beloved husband, and a cherished father. He is survived by his wife, Janis Adkins, of 47 years, four children, daughter Missti Forbes and spouse Will Forbes, son, Michael Adkins; daughter, Kristina Potts and spouse Anthony Potts; daughter, Ashley Adkins; a brother, David Adkins, sister, Sherrie Adkins and 6 grandchildren, and countless friends who were touched by his grace, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

He will be remembered for his gentle and peaceful spirit, love of the Word of God, as well as his passion for playing music, singing, and joy of cooking for his family. Loran often said that if God never did another thing for him that he would always praise and worship Him with his life. He felt closest to Jesus when he was in worship with his wife and children, and he always seemed to carry a sense of peace and trust in the Lord throughout his life. Romans 12 was a pillar of truth and life for Loran.

A time of celebration of Loran's life will be held at the Marriot at Columbia Point, in Richland WA on November 9th, 2024, at 5pm, where we will celebrate Loran's life, faith, and his impact on those around him. The family kindly requests any donations or gifts be made to Loran's wife, Janis Adkins.

May Loran's soul rest in eternal peace with the Lord Jesus, and may his memory and legacy be a blessing to all who knew him. Ice Cream!
