Loquitta F. Christensen was born October 6, 1923 in Cullowhee, North Carolina and left this life to be once again united with her beloved husband, Chris, on July 20, 2010 at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy. She moved from Cullowhee to Yakima, WA with her sister, Eva, and then to Kennewick, WA where she resided for the last 66 years. While working as a bank teller, Loquitta met Chris Christensen. After a short engagement, they were married on December 7, 1945. Chris and Loquitta were married 54 years and raised three children. They began their married life together living near Chris' family which is now Columbia Park. While living there they raised sheep and chickens, sold eggs, and had a cherry orchard. After the flood in 1948, they moved their home to Yelm Street in Kennewick. They owned and operated the Desert Hills Motel in Kennewick for many years. After retirement, she and Chris spent many hours traveling in their motor home, fishing, walking, doing volunteer work, and proudly watching their grandchildren's activities. At least two nights a week you would find them all dressed up and dancing at one of the senior centers. Loquitta attended South Hills Church and belonged to Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Loquitta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chris, and infant son, Jerry. She has one surviving sister, Pearl of North Carolina. She will be greatly missed by her three children: Jim Joan Christensen, Linda Andy Anderson, and Carol Mike White; grandchildren: Jill Eugene Williams, Joe Kara Christensen, Jake Erin Christensen, Darren White, Megan White all of Kennewick, Jason Leslie Anderson of Salem, OR, Krista Anderson of Tuscan, AZ; and 12 great grandchildren. Services for Loquitta will be Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 South Union in Kennewick.
