Lois Jean Garner Sharp passed away peacefully on September 3rd, in Pasco Washington, at the age of 90.

Lois was born in Roy, Utah, on May 5, 1936, to Vern George Garner and Carrie Charlotte Coy. Growing up on farms in Idaho and Oregon, she learned the values of hard work and family connection early in life. She attended schools in Burley and Nyssa, where she was active as a high school cheerleader, student body officer, and member of the school choir.

On June 2, 1954, Lois married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Dean Sharp, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and service. In 1958, Lois and Dean moved to the Columbia Basin, establishing roots in Othello, Washington. Over the years, they raised five children and spent a brief period operating the Vista Village Tastee Freeze in Moses Lake before returning to Othello to build their family home on Cunningham Road.

Music was one of Lois’s greatest passions. A gifted soprano, she shared her vocal talents at countless community events, weddings, and funeral services across various denominations in the region. She served as a dedicated ward choir director for over 40 years and took great joy in singing trios with her daughters. An accomplished seamstress, Lois crafted everything from her own wedding dress to everyday clothes for her children, as well as enjoying furniture upholstery.

Lois was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she held numerous callings, including Relief Society President and Y.W.M.I.A. President. After retiring from a 16-year career with the Church Maintenance Department, Lois and Dean served an 18-month Church Service Mission with the Tri-City F.M. Group and regularly served at the Columbia River Washington Temple.

Lois is survived by her children Lorraine and Husband Eric Walker, Teresa Deanne and Husband Mark Christensen, Reed Dean Sharp and Wife Darla Mccullough Sharp, Steven Milo Sharp, and Brent Dee Sharp and wife Karen Scorup Sharp; along with 18 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Carrie Garner, and her brother Norman Garner and Sister Donna.

A funeral service will be held at 9am on Saturday, September 12th, at the LDS stake center 4618 Porto Lane Pasco, Washington. Interment will be at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens, Othello, Washington on Friday September 11th at 2pm.
