Obituary

Lois Renee Bailey McKinnis, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2010, due to complications of a stroke. Renee was born on April 23, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to LaVern Roderick and Sarah Ellen Dixon Bailey. She was the second of four children. Renee's family moved to Butte, Montana, when she was one year old. She spent her childhood there until the family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1943. She attended and graduated from Kennewick High School in 1947. She married her eternal sweetheart, James Stuart 'Stu' McKinnis, in Kennewick on January 9, 1948. In 1951, their marriage was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Renee's greatest joy was spending time with her family. When her children were young, she enjoyed sewing for her girls, cooking and spending family vacations camping. She loved gardening and surrounded her home with beautiful flowers. As an active, lifelong member of the LDS church she served faithfully in many callings. Renee was preceded in death by her father and mother, LaVern and Sarah Bailey; son-in-law, Rodney Jackson; and great-grandson, Anthony John Milewski. Renee is survived by her children: Chyrl Rod Petersen, Mapleton, UT; Marlene Leonard Inglima, Pasco, WA; Jim Lea McKinnis, Richland, WA; Ellen O.Neal, Orem, UT; Lois Rob Evanson, Kennewick, WA; Guy Chris McKinnis, Kennewick, WA; Michelle Clark Pitcher, American Fork, UT; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Reber, St. George, UT and Carol Carey, Kennewick, WA; and her brother, Vern Marilyn Bailey, Northfield, MN. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Mueller Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street in Kennewick and one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Church building, 829 S. Buntin Street in Kennewick, with interment to follow in the Desert Lawn Memorial Park. We greatly appreciate the Tri-Cities Hospice for their compassion and excellent care during the final days of Renee's life. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Tri-Cities Hospice or a charity of your choice.
