Obituary Lois A. Wise-Bumgarner After a fifteen-year battle with breast cancer, Lois A. Wise-Bumgarner, surrounded by family and friends at home during her last days, slipped her earthly bonds, June 21, 2021, landing in the arms of her heavenly father. Lois was born in Spokane, WA, on January 7, 1946, to Charles Clinton Wise and Beulah ("Boots") Wise. Her early years were spent in San Francisco where her father was stationed at the Presidio. Before she started school, they moved to Richland, WA, where her father was employed on the Hanford Reservation. Lois graduated from Kennewick High School in 1964. She attended CBC for secretarial coursework and earned an AA. From 1965 to 1971, she was employed in the Hanford Area, serving as a secretary for Douglas United Nuclear, Inc. In 1970, she and former KHS classmate, Jim Bumgarner, married. They moved to Prosser, where they had two children, Brooke and Derik, and where she served as a secretary for Moore and Mellor Insurance Agency. In successive moves to Centralia, WA, ('84), and Sequim, WA, ('89), she continued secretarial employment for a variety of firms. In 2000, she and Jim retired, and in 2003 moved back to the Tri-Cities. Always cheerful, smiling, so very cute, and full of grace and goodwill, Lois filled her life with friends from elementary and high school, Beta Sigma Phi, co-workers and their families, ladies in the church, and more recently from a wonderful group of hot-rodders, many of whom have remained in close contact through these many years. No mother ever loved her children and grandchildren more than Lois. Always working to make sure their needs were met whether it be a sandwich, a popsicle, a trip to the park, hot dogs and swimming, college tuition, or a hug, she was ever-present, ever-loved, and cherished by all. Lois is preceded in death by her father, Charles Clinton Wise, and her mother Beulah "Boots" Wise, and half-sister, Shirley Ritzo of Athol, ID. She is survived by daughter Brooke (James) Canada, grandchildren Izaiah Canada, Aidan Canada, and Maia Canada; son, Derik; sister, Sandra (Dave) Montague; husband, Jim; and a large group of extended family and friends. Services and reception will be held at the Kennewick First United Methodist Church, in Kennewick, July 1st, at 10am. Graveside Services at Mueller's on 10th and Union in Kennewick, to follow.
