Obituary

Lois LaDeane Avery, known to her loved ones as Lois, peacefully passed away on August 7, 2023, at the age of 93 in Spokane Valley, Washington. She was born on January 26, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to the late Jessie Marguerite and Joseph Hugh Arterburn.

Lois will be remembered as a kind, caring, and generous soul who touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a beloved mother to her sons, William, Robert, Larry, and Mark Higginson and step-children, Rick and Mark Avery and Kathie Avery Davis. She adored their spouses Caroline, Annie, Karen, Ulrike, Lucy, Amanda and Mike. She had 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Avery, her sister, Paula Arterburn Hobbs, and her brother, Dee Allen Arterburn.

In her earlier years, Lois attended Boise High School, where she gained a solid educational foundation. She was a loving housewife and also worked as the Head of Sportswear for Youngs of Pasco for many years, showcasing her dedication and expertise.

Lois found solace and strength in her faith and worshiped at Richland Alliance Church for many years. Later she attended Zion Lutheran after moving to Spokane Valley to be nearer to her children in her declining years. Her spiritual connection brought her comfort and guided her throughout her life.

Outside of her professional and familial responsibilities, Lois enjoyed various hobbies. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, exploring new places and creating cherished memories with the Rambling Rovers. Golf was another passion of hers, where she could enjoy the outdoors and engage in friendly competition. Lois also found joy in playing pinochle, spending quality time with dear friends while engaging in a friendly card game.

Lois served as past president of Elks Emblem Club No.322 as well as other offices. She dedicated many years to Emblem Clubs work raising money for charity. In honor of Lois's memory, contributions can be made to the Elks Emblem Club No. 513 in Gig Harbor, Washington. This charitable organization holds significance to Lois and supports causes that were close to her heart. She was also a proud member of Locust Grove that raised money for charity and scholarships.

A memorial service will be held at Muellers Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court, Pasco WA, on Saturday September 9, 2023 at 1:00 pm. It will be followed immediately afterwards by a graveside Inurnment service at Pasco City View Cemetery.

Lois LaDeane Avery's legacy will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Her kindness, generosity, and loving nature will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
