Lloyd, born and raised in Corvallis, Montana, was 89 years old when he died June 1st, 2013. Lloyd had served in the Army Infantry in WWII in Europe; captured in December 1944, he was a POW until May 1945. He had married Betty Neff in 1943 in Corvallis, MT. They had a daughter, Mary Jean. The end of 1946 saw him out of the service, divorced, living in the Benton City area, working for M-K. Lloyd met and married Dorothy Maddox in 1948. They had a daughter, Connie, and a son, Johnny. They moved to Hamilton, MT in 1952. Lloyd worked for the Bitterroot Irrigation District, operating draglines and shovel cranes. 1961 found the White family back in Benton City, where Lloyd "Shorty" has resided since, in the white house with the nice green yard. Lloyd was a life member in the American Ex-Prisoners of War, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. In 2012, Lloyd was honored as a 60-year member of Masonic Benton Lodge #277 F and A.M. He was also honored as a 50-year member of the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 348. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee and Myrtle Lee White; his older sisters Helen Miller (Joe) and Alice Carmichael (Bob); and older brother Robert White (Cleo). He is survived by his daughters Mary Jean Harrsch, Connie Hermance (Lee); son John White; three grandchildren Will Harrsch (Jenna), Heidi Harrsch, and Natalie White; and two great-grandchildren Brock Harrsch and Alyssa Derryberry. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 10, 2013, at 10 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery in Benton City. Please dress casually and bring a lawn chair.
