Linda Jean Cowdrey passed away on January 7, 2015, in Kennewick, WA. She was 71. The daughter of Henry and Marion Owens, Linda was born May 31, 1943, in Albany, Oregon. As the daughter of a U.S. Army officer, Linda grew up throughout the United States and Germany and graduated from high school in Hermiston, in 1961. She attended Eastern Oregon State College and later graduated from Central Washington University in 1973. She taught elementary school in Yakima and La Grande. In 1992, she received her MA from Portland State University and became a media specialist at Riveria Elementary in La Grande. In 1993, she relocated to the Tri Cities and worked at Robert Frost and McLoughlin schools. Linda retired in 2005. She was an active member of South Hills Church in Kennewick and did volunteer work for Grace Clinic and the Tri Cities Cancer Center library. She is survived by sons Michael Cowdrey of La Grande, OR, and Stephen and Suzy Cowdrey of Asotin, WA and grandsons Douglas and Travis. Surviving siblings are Elizabeth White and husband Clyde, of La Grande: Kathy Hays and husband Rocky of Eugene, OR; MajGen Christopher Owens (USMC) and wife Rita stationed overseas; and honorary sister Truc Noung Brown and husband David of Virginia. A private family burial service will be held at Grandview Cemetery in La Grande, OR. Memorial services will take place at South Hills Church in Kennewick on Tuesday, January 13 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, Linda has requested donations to the Tri Cities Cancer Center or the Tri Cities Union Gospel Mission.
